before anyone freaks out I'm talking about off road lights.:)

i might be missing something but Ive been slowing formulating a plan to build one so i figure other more industrious guys would have built one already, but i cant find anything with searches.

this driver seems suitable although an automotive specific one would probably be cheaper and less complex

and then we have these SST-90's that would work well. and the price isnt bad given the simplicity of a single led over multi P7's

optics and heat sinks are out there....is there something im missing that makes this a crazy idea while the 1000 dollar vision-x lights are selling like hot cakes?

advise, discussion, ideas... all welcome:popcorn:

Actually that would be pretty cool. I haven't done the math but i'm positive they'll use less energy than regular halogen or xenon bulbs too. It would probably be kinda hard to focus it though, don't LEDs require more sophisticated optics?

definitely would be a low power setup compared to the high output alternatives. output would be a shade lower then the something nice like this:

but more durable, and a tenth or less pull on your alternator.

focus is deffinatly gonna be hard from what i read. sounds like getting exact results will be hit or miss but getting nearly the effect your looking for should be attainable on the first try.

i even though about cheapo ebay offroad lights with big steel reflectors, but im not sure what that would make things look like. that route sure does settle all the mounting options to the truck and the heatsink could hang out the back end maybe?
