I was rifling through the thread links looking for key words that define the type of rechargeable battery I am looking for. I am just lost. Can someone point me in the proper direction.

I am looking for something that can sit for longer than the average battery without leaking. I'm not really sure what else I want. I mostly want to know if there are any above average brands out there, or any below average brands out there. I know in terms of out put I choose longevity over higher output performance until the end. But other than that I mostly want something that isn't going to leak if I forget about them for a year or two.

Edit: AA

Not sure what size you're looking for but I like the Sanyo brand Eneloops. They are AA size battery's but they offer "adapters" so they can be use in place of a C cell or a D cell battery. I keep them in flashlights for over a year and they don't leak and they don't self-discharge much at all.

Regular NiMH will not leak, but can be fragile. Just stick with LSD NiMH and you will be fine (eneloops are just great). Most lights will even have longer runtime in max using NiMH than alkalines.

Just keep it simple:

Get a good NiMH charger with a separate charging channel for each battery (so you don't have to worry about matched pairs). Look for a charger than can charge 1 to 4 batteries. Maha and Sanyo both sell chargers like this.

Then, get Low-Self-Discharge NiMH batteries. Sanyo eneloops can be had for under $10 per 4 pack. Imedion 2400's from Powerex/Maha are good. Duracell "Stay-Charge" are fine. I bought a 4-pack of their Japanese made batteries (rebranded Sanyo eneloops) yesterday. The key word on the package will be "pre-charged" or "stay charged".

I was doing research online and found a set of batteries I couldn't find an explanation for. Here at the website of......... Enelope I found information on their newest battery, but here I found a supposedly new type of battery that I have no details about from the Enelope site.

Here are the two batteries, other than the 1500<2000 difference, what is any other difference, both appear to be the same. Maybe one is simply a fake?

Confirmed new........

Uncomfirmed new....

Edit: actually upon further investigation I see that the same name is applied to both, one seller simply chose to use a different description, but both names are used for the same product....Both have a 1500 recharge on it.

Think it works out cheaper to but eneloops in packs of 4. Cheaper to buy 4 packs of 4 rather than 1 pack of 16. Make sure you get the new version, they keep their charge longer and can be racharged 1500 times instead of 1000.
I've always bought my eneloops from amazon and I'm quite sure they're genuine, but it will vary from seller to seller.

It's interesting that on the USA version of amazon there are more reviews claiming eneloops to be fake than there are on the UK version, does anyone know why this could be? I do have a theory but I won't say it because it may offend Americans

When buying chargers, I always consider buying chargers that have DC car adapters with them. This way I am able to charge the batteries if there is an extended power outage by plugging into the car's cigarette lighter.
