"10 pcs 7.2V 1800mAh Ni-Cd Rechargeable Battery Packs

7.2V, 1800 mAh Ni-Cd battery pack made in Japan originally for old model two way radio. Never used!

6 pcs A size Ni-Cd cells(16.5 mm dia. x 50 mm length)inside at good working condition.

Just open the pack and take the cells out, you can make your own battery pack for every project at the lowest cost.

Yes, 10 packs(60 cells)for each shipment.

My brother purchased this. It turned out that both of us made a mistake. For some reason, we both read the description and thought we were getting AA cells. We had lots of usage planned for them :-)

Now that he has received the shipment, we were very disappointed.

At first I thought, we can bunch 3 into a "D" size cell but that is fatter. So now we are asking for your ideas on how to make the lemonade out of these lemons.

One idea as is to buy cheapest D size flashlight and stuff as many A as we can stuff in there. Find a wall-wart transformer with matching voltage and wire a corresponding receptacle to the flashlight. Then put a xenon bulb in it and have a blast.

Another would be to direct drive 5W Luxeon.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

1800 mA isn't bad for NiCad A's. The surplus packs of NiMH I've been able to find are 2450 mA which isn't as great a percentage difference as exists between the highest capacity NiCad and NiMH AA cells.

A cells will fit into DB flashlights. I use many of them there. 2 @ 17 mm wide A cells are 34 mm wide compared to a 33 mm wide D cell. I plan to wire up two 7.2 V A cell battery packs inside a 5D flashlight to drive a 12.0 V 1.17A 289 Lumen W/A MR11 LA with a tight 6 degree beam.

Your picture looks as though the configuration may be too loose to be used this way.
