Hi - I have been an LED light person for several years now, but the incans remain just so amazingly bright, I had to look. (Thanks a lot JimH, you are dragging me down /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
I am thinking about a homemade with the following setup
- 4 x 123 so nominal 12 V (maybe 9 V with sag)
- 5 x 123 would take it to perhaps 11.4 volts with sag, but as much as 15 volts starting out.
- Carley 813 Halogenlamp T1.5
- nominal 10 V
- 0.6 A
- 13 cp - so nominal 150 Lumen
- small parabolic Al reflector (nominal 0.375 or 0.5 inch
- Mount a Carley T1.5 bi pin socket into the head of the light for quick change bulb.
Maybe put a pair of these in the head of a light for something like 300 lumens.
General Questions
- Good idea / bad idea ?
- How hard is it to align the bulb to the reflector ? I am imagining the reflector bonded to the heat sink / base, along with the bi pin socket. Is it hard to insert / mount these to the right focal point ?
- Is this old stuff around here ? Maybe a thread on this already exists.
I don't want to break new Lumens ground with an initial build, but would like it to be reasonably impressive so that JimH doesn't just laugh at the CPF meeting.
