Indoor lighting

I was wondering what do you guys use for indoor lighting. I could assume you also use LED lamps, but wanted to see if i was wrong. Myself I use CF lamps. They are brighter than regular bulbs and use less power and last a year instead of a month when left on 24/7. Unlike those older tube lamps these swirlie ones seem to work well for me, litle to no flicker and a nice shade of light. They just fade as they get old and i rotate them around my apartment. I have the one by my lazy boy the brightest and new for reading, then put the other ones in my bed room or bathroom.

I have seen led lights for regular lamps and bought one from ccrane. Its great as a reading light, but its not that great at lighting up a room. Ive also seen inexpensive bulbs for your car and had assume you could wire ten of these in series and run them off line voltage or use them in an emergency. Use them like track lighting or what not.

I use CF lamps in my hallway, bathroom and kitchen.
I also used a modifyed 24volt powered normal flourecent lamp in the kitchen that I run from solar power. I also have a quartz halogen light that faces the celing in my living room. I also have a "reveal" normal light bulb for a warmer color temp in the kitchen. My work area is also in my kitchen so I have a 175 watt metal halide swing arm lamp I plug into a ballast thats under my work bench for lots of light when I need it. I still need a sheild on that light, metal halide bulbs can sometimes explode.

For general lighting much prefer low voltage halogen, in MR 16 flavour 20 to 50W or as `desk` lamps typivally 20W capsule lamp.

efficency is good, not in CFL league but about same as LEDs for room light and colour rendering and colour tempertaure are good.

Rest of the house is my parents domain, and other than an 85W CFL in the kitchen, I haven't managed to get them to convert yet...but that's their problem.

In here, we have:

2x 20W Osram Dulux CFLs (spot in the corner of the room, and pendent lamp on the ceiling)
1x 8W T5 linear fluorescent. (Adapted emergency lighting fixture by the spot in the corner).
1x 20W T4 (I think) fluorescent under the shelf.
1x 35W Philips CDM-ColourMaster metal halide (uplighter in the corner). That lamp used to use a 200W incandescent, but I retrofitted it, first to a 23W CFL, then to the MH.

There's also a 35W SOX low pressure sodium lamp down beside the TV, which I put on every now and then just because I like the colour...and I'm wierd like that!

Oh, and a 70W 4 foot linear fluorescent fixture I salvaged from a hotel doing a refit a few weeks ago, is just leaning on the wall in the corner just now, need to work out where to put it. Three twin tube fixtures like that for free, I'm not gonna complain!

CFL's in most of my indoor fixtures wherever I can fit them. The modern linear tubes are great if you are running them on a modern ballast. Not like the old days when they would flicker and hum.

Mostly CFLs of various wattages throughout my house.

The kitchen is lit with 3 4-foot fluorscent lamps which is more than enough. I use 50 watt Philips Masterline Halogen floods in the livingroom track lights (There are 4 fixtures

My room has a 2 foot fluorscent light on the ceiling with a homemade electronic ballast (Cut out of a CFL) Lots of light for only 20 watts.

Lights in the bathroom, garage, hall, and outside are still incandescent

I have 2 2x40 watt fixtures overhead and use 100watt equiv twister lamps mostly to light the room plus I have a 150watt equiv for when I need brighter light to inspect something by plus I have an 18watt fixture over my desk and a 6watt battery light by the bed I converted to AC power. I use a 4led flashlight running at 4ma for a nightlight.

What is CF lamps, CFL ?

I only got normal 60w osram bulbs home now.
But when i got myself my own house i got many plans.
i wont to use LED spotlight where it can be done!
but i dont want that 6000k LEDs they are to white and make a cold light :\

i notice there is a Luxeon "warm white" LED, anybody tryed that one ??
that must be perfect for making spot`s indoors or outdoor /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And i want to make a Power-loss lightningsystem..
when the power is OUT, i want many leds to light up so u can se the stairs, and exit doors /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
