I recieved the inova microlight today and sadly I must say I am disappointed. It has NO on/off switch, which I was under the impression it would have. It is also very dim and blue even in a pretty dark room. My PT attitude absolutely clobers this thing. Granted the attitude is bigger with more LED's. I was just expecting more.....

electronics4life...what color is it? Also, if it doesn't have a constant-on switch, it's the earlier version. The newer version has the switch. Since it's the older version, it was probably in the store for quite a while with everybody that walked past it "trying it out". Put in a new battery/batteries and then fire it up and you'll probably see a marked improvement. As far as keychain lights go, Inova's are considered to be pretty bright...

...BTW, for future ref, put LED topics in the LED forum. You'll get better response time, and you'll save the moderator's the trouble of moving your post...FYI

It is black on the edges with a gray center. The LED itself is white. It has a silver clip that says INOVA. What you say about the batteries makes sense. Although I will not keep the light sense it does not have the constant on feature, so I won't be buying new batteries to try.

try a photon II, it has momentary and constant on. smaller than the inova too. as far as output, you may have got a lemon. but don't expect much from one $9 led light.

That sounds like an old model. Try one that has a "transparent" type case and It should have the on off switch on the back side of it. It may be that it has old or bad batteries. You might want to switch them out for new ones... Mike

If you have fresh batteries, thats six volts to overdrive that led, my Inova microlight is almost too bright!

I totally agree with what everybody said and that is, it is an older model. I still have a few older model Inovas lying around and they are by far much dimmer than the new ones. The newer Inovas have a transparent body and a slide on/off switch as well as a momentary switch.

I bought an Inova Micro about a year ago, & it had the slide switch. This one must be really old stock. I get my Inovas from road_kill, generally. TX

electronics4life,

You have an older model Inova Microlight. The newer models are brighter and have both the squeeze switch and an on/off switch on the back. The newer models come in two versions:

1) Standard

2) Translucent

The Standard madels have a black case with gray squeeze button. The Translucent models have a white translucent case with a squeeze button that has a color that matches the beam of LED.

I really like Inova Microlights because they are an excellent value, have a protected LED, and are rather small and flat.

e4l...if you have any Academy Sports stores in your area, they have the newer Inova Microlights in all colors for $7.99. Also, the Discovery Channel Store has them...FYI

I had three old-style Inovas. (i.e. all were momentary)

Red and green, grey "button"
Blue, transparent blue "button"

All were quite bright, the green was incredible, and the blue was pretty powerful. The green was much harder to turn on than the other two for some reason.
