hello, just came over to visit from bladeforums.com..:) they speak so highly of this forum i figured i better check it out. i had a question regarding the inova 5x does anyone know of any mods or plans for any kind of voltage regulation. this seems like it would be a great light, but the curve on power usage v.s light output doesnt seem that hot. any info or tips would be great thanks in advance.

Welcome to CPF. I am afraid I don't know of any mods or plans for regulation for the X-5.

Actually, it really does surprisingly well without any given the nature of the lithium cells it uses. Brock (a distinguished member/moderator here did some really nifty run time tests here: http://www.uwgb.edu/nevermab/battery.htm . It will probably come up on the Surefire page but if you click on the 'led lights' tab on the bottom, you can find the Inova X-5 test. To sum it up, it started at 98,000 mcd and 2 hours later it was only down to 94,000 mcd. At 4 hours, it was at 85,000 mcd.

That is pretty flat discharge for a non-regulated light.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy Brock's work,
Pat

Brock's chart shows the X5 done at 8 hours. That's a far cry from the "20 Hours" claimed on their packaging.
