Am getting a Wolf Eyes M90X w/ D36 12V LA (+extender) powered by 3 18650's.

AW's 18650 have a great rep but at $12. each kinda steep compared to Tenergy's Protected 18650 for $6.19 each.

What's the consensus on these Tenergy batteries from Battery Junction?

stick to PILA, WOLF-EYES, or AW protected cells, they are the only protected cells on the market that were designed with these applications in mind. In my time at CPF, I have seen probably a thousand threads, where their lamp won't light up because they went with cheaper cells.

Most likely, the cells will work, but may very likely require a double tap. I can say with confidence, that the AW cells will light up any of the available D36 lamps without the need for any "dancing" on the switch.

Keep in mind the AW batteries still have a flat top so it will require the use of magnets on the positive side. I would just go all the way and buy the Wolf Eyes batteries since they will work as is.
