Intellect 2000 Question

Hello,

I am fairly inexperienced when it comes to batteries but I recently purchased a Maha C401FS Charger and some Eneloops with an interest to start using Ni-MH batteries (for long term savings).

I happened to be poking around the "man cave" this evening and noticed in my old airsoft equipment (from my younger days) an Intellect 2000 Ni-MH battery pack. Upon further inspection it just appears to be 8 AA Ni-MH 1.2V 2000mAh batteries in plastic wrapping.

Would I be able to take this apart and use the individual AA's in the Maha charger? If it is not safe for me to do this I completely understand and appreciate the warning, but it would just seem to be a waste of AA's that I could be using with my new charger (I will never be playing airsoft again)

Hello Ewenit,

Welcome to CPF.

Yes you can take the pack apart, but many times cells that are used in a battery pack don't have a nipple at the + end. Using these cells in a light may present problems making contact.

One way to work around this, if the pack has welded connection leads, is to fold the lead over to form a nipple.

Thank you silverfox, I took it apart last night and besides the plastic sheathing not making it everything else works fine. I was fortunate enough that the positive leads were attached to the batteries.
I appreciate your response, I just wanted to make sure I was good to go before I took it apart and threw them in my charger. :thumbsup:
