My keychain light for the past two years or so has been an initial release Arc AAA LE. I recently bought a couple more new Arc AAA LEs and was comparing the beam output between the new and the old. Physically they look the mostly the same. My new one must be just before Arc changed the lettering style. Whether by design or luck, the new one stomps the old in light output. The center hotspot of the new is at least as bright if not brighter then the old but the side spill light is much greater on the new. Hard to guess but I'd say the overall total light output must be 25-50 percent more with the new. Needless to say the old one is relegated to backup. The only caveat with the new is that the LED still is not centered. Evidently, this centering operation must be an extremely difficult procedure!

...Centering is another common issue we hear about. The nature of this design dictates that the LED will always be off center. Yup, off center is normal. eek! (I know- shocking isn't it). What isn't normal is for the off centeredness to affect the normal operation of this EDC flashlight. We test each and every unit for this by hand...
