This is usually caused by an intermittent ground (pcb to the head). A new crimp to hold the pcb into the head better is being added to the next release. In the meantime, you should contact Arc about a replacement. From my experienc, only a very few of the units have this problem.

Your knowledge of LED lights & associated problems has increased quite a bit in just th few months I've read your posts on this board.

-it always surprises me how knowledgeable people become in a short time

Ha. Well really, my only claim to fame is that I read lots of posts. I don't actually "know" anything, I just repeat what I hear. Same way I made it through college.

I was going to say something like "but you repeat it sooo many times....!! 1806 posts in what, 6 weeks??", But since this is a holiday weekend & I'm on vacation next week (so I'm feeling chairatable), I won't say that. But if I did, you would know I was just giving you a hard time, right???

(yes, we still see you back there)

Is there anyway that I can fix it by myself? I'm in Hong Kong so returning the light could be expensive. I suppose I have to pay the return shipping cost, right?

Hmmm. I'm going to be in Hong Kong in a couple of months. Maybe I could swap it out for you, fly yours home to CA, then send it to AZ for cheaper.

Seriously, your best bet is to email Peter at Arc. I'm confident that he'll figure out something that'll make you happy.

My new arc lights up 9 out of 10 times when I screw in the head. But in that 1 time it won't light up no matter how tightly I screw the head in. It won't lights even if I back off a little and screw in the head again. I can usually fix the problem by screwing off the head halfway and give the light a good shake. I have try cleaning the contacts with contact cleaner but it doesn't help. The problem probably lies in the head since I can reproduce the problem by connecting the battery to the head directly with wires. Anyone can suggest a possible cause of this? any way to fix it? Thanks.

Just got the reply from Peter. He is sending me a replacement. Thanks Peter.

Sssh. Don't tell anybody!

Policy is that we require a light to be returned before we will replace it. No exceptions.

I'd like it officially noted that I was right. Assuming, of course, that Chuen is happy with the result. Anybody keeping score?

I had the same problem with my LE not too long ago. While out walking at night, I was using the LE intermittently, and in one instance, couldn't get the light to turn on. It happened only once, so I thought it was an anomaly. Should I be concerned? Will the "problem" become worse over time?

Yeha, I'm having the same problem with my turquoise one too. Sometimes I turn it on, and it'll come on real dimly where I can stare straight into the LED and see the die. After I cleaned the contacts, it seemed to get better but didn't really go away altogether. It started about a month ago, and seems to start happening a little more frequently. It's not a big deal right now, but if it starts getting worse I'll probably begin to worry about it.
