Interstate LIG9051 for LEO ?

Our local Interstate dealer is showing us the 2x18650 LIG9051 for officers in our department. It could be under $70 with batteries for us because they want to get our business. If it goes bad, we can take it to the local shop for repair/replacement. It's rated at 900 lumens, but I don't have many other specs. I know it's not a Nitecore or EagleTac or similar, but maybe it would be a decent light for the price. Here is a link:

Ok, I apologize. Anyhow, the specs of this light are Interstate LIG9051, 900 lumens max, Cree T6 bulb, H/M/L/Strobe/SOS, 2x18650 batteries, 300m beam distance. (I'm just getting this off a spec sheet. Can't find any other specs online) So far, I can't get any other specs on this light. I just wonder if anyone knows if it's a good carry light for LE. Considering our price and local service, I might get them for our officers. (They currently use the Streamlight SL-20, SL-20LED, and Stinger and Stinger LED, It's a cheap light but may be a good deal. (To be honest, I wouldn't use this myself as I recently ordered a Nitecore SRT6, haha)
 
If you wouldn't use it, why would you ask your guys to?

Given all the things cops do with their lights, the smart money is on a proven performer. Save money elsewhere. Don't cheap out on safety equipment.

If it has to be around 70 dollars there are a few decent options if you shop around. I honestly never knew Interstate sold flashlights much less catered to police officers. If it is a large purchase I believe many dealers will work a bulk deal.

I think f I remember correct several recruits in my department worked a deal on the Fenix E50. I am not sure how many they bought but it seems like it was just under 70 dollars for each. I believe the specs were close to 800 lumens and they seem to have good customer service.

From the photo it seems like it would be very hard to hold as it looks very smooth with no knurling. I also did not see anything on their site about the different levels. I like strobe to be locked out so as not to activate it by accident and can it be set to activate on high with no memory feature.

Honestly without knowing much about the maker I am not sure I would try it if it were a large purchase. Maybe they would allow one to be tested in the field first on routine patrol. Could not hurt to ask and we have several excellent members here who do excellent reviews if they would consider that option.
 
Ok, thanks for the info. While I do try to equip our officers with good equipment, it isn't always the best or "what I would use." There is the matter of economics and unless your department is flush with money (is there any?), you don't always buy the best equipment.

Since we are discussing this, I am kind of from the old school that a new officer should have a full-sized light like a streamlight or maglight. Then of course, an officer should have a backup like a smaller light on the belt. However, with the technology today, do you all think a smaller light like a Fenix PD35 is a good light to issue new officers? Or should it be a longer light and/or should the initial issue flashlight be a rechargeable? Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's the light. Thanks a lot. It is described as CREE XML T6 tactical led 900 lumen flashlight but not many specs. It looks like it's about $20/light for a bulk order to a distributor. I guess I will get one for an officer to test and let you all know.
 
Didn't you post another thread about 2AA options? I would not use that Interstate thing on patrol. PD35, runtime is not good enough. If you're budget is strapped to get a new Streamlight offering, a quality second choice is the Bayco Nightstick Tac 400. I've got a few Bayco tac lights and they are quite good. My Tac 200 has been beat to **** and is still functioning perfect.

We're issued the Pelican 7060. Is about as large as Id go on the belt. I know some guys like the full size 9+ inch lights but they are just not practical to have on you all the time. Imagine hopping over a fence or running with something that big. For the guys that say they leave the big light in the car for stops and use the small tac light instead are just crazy. You need the primary to be something that is carried all the time and isn't like carrying another pr24.

The Tac 400b is around 80 bucks, lifetime warranty, cradle rechargable, and will do just as well as the 7060.
