iPod Help

How do you add tracks to the iPod and maintain a song name with a number in the title? I'm trying to put the audio Bible on in but instead of "Matthew 1, Matthew 2" etc it automatically takes the numbers out and I end up with "Matthew" 28 times. Is there any way to keep the numbers from being removed? Without having to type "Matthew one" Matthew two" etc.

My iRiver MP3 player seemed more intuitive in that whatever you added was what ended up on the player. I'm just not smart enough to figure it out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif

on the iPod and iTunes, the title of the track is taken from the mp3 tag and not the actual filename. So use filenames so that things sort on the disk the way you want, and then edit the title in iTunes and it will stick when transfered. (and not change the filname)

You need to add the number into the the name of the file from your computer. Before its added to your iPod, add the number next to the filename(right click the file and the name there), and also, if it doesnt change it from what you see on the icon, you need to click the name once and add it there. So pretty much, from your computer, add the number everywhere you can. I think in iTunes it may have some options to name them different ways. I havent plugged my pod in for weeks since I switched to linux so I cant remember right now. If you cant find it, I will boot my Windows machine up and see what I can find as well.

Just a thought (keeping in mind I don't have an iPod) just remove the space in the name. So instead of 28 "Matthew" entries, have them named "matthew01, matthew02... matthew28"

The problem is most definatley coming from the fact that your iRiver displayed the file name, and the iPod is displaying the ID3 tag info.

You can mass edit in iTunes, or get a dedicated ID3 tag reading program.

I just verified this by adding '28' to the end of one of my songs. Pulled it up on the iPod and the '28' is there just as expected.

You can edit ID3 tags directly from iTunes.

Just select the song within your iTunes library, then select <font color="blue">File</font> --> <font color="blue">Get Info</font> ( I don't have the PC version of iTunes in front of me, but the menu options are likely the same between Mac & PC ).

You can edit the tags to your heart's content. If you see a key combo listed next to the menu option, that shows you what hot keys can be used to bring up the ID3 editor if you prefer using key combos instead of mouse clicks.
