The best way to test it is point a remote control at it and press the buttons while looking at the viewfinder. Most will show the IR LED firing.

Wow, never realized I could see IR this way. This is great, now I have a way to aim an IR pointer which might be in the works. Whos up for 1w in a pointer?

Are you wanting a IR pointer, to burn things?

You do realize, that even if you mod it, and remove the filters, and its IR, and burns things great,.... you wont be able to look at it ! Well, you will for a while,, till your BLIND !

I hope you relize how damaging a IR laser is to your eyes.
You cant "see" IR, so that makes it even worse, looking at it, it wont seem that bright, and your eyes arent going to compinsate for its brightness.
