I want to build a 3-5 mm thick thermal/mounting plate with threads on the outside diameter,
to be screwed into a head that then sits onto an E-series body, so the same threads as the body itself ...

is there a standard cutting iron for this?
Which will that be? (Diameter + pitch)

anyone probably has an idea where to get such a thing?

If you have trouble locating these at a vendor, look for the heading "Special Thread Taps/Dies" I got mine from Travers tool, but they are available at a few vendors online (FWIW mine were made in the Czech Republic, so may be available on your side of the pond).

Be aware that the length of the threaded portion going into the head is critical. To short won't make electrical contact...catastrophic, too long leaves a gap at the o-ring...fixable. If this is to be like a flange with the head on one side and the body of the light on the other, your minimum plate thickness where the body threads in will need to be thicker than the length of threads on the body (about 6mm) so about 8mm with about 6mm more to machine away to create the new male threads...and you'll need a battery spacer of course...It might be easier to thread a hole in a thick plate clear through and make a short threaded tube for the male threads going into the head

What are you trying to do? There may be an easier way to approach the problem.

Sorry for not answering, I did not notice there were additional posts ...

--> Thanks for the eBay-advise, I just got a source now from there.

As to what to "produce": thats some mounting/thermal plates for a head that fits an e-series body.
Luckily the threads inside the head are cut high up, so to use a threaded mounting plate is the best idea to fix everything inside the head + to have short heat path.

The cutting iron probably costs the same, as if I had 2-3 plates been made around here ...
