Is there a led flashlight mod guide ?

Where can I get some info on modding (modern) led flashlights. Tried searching but couldn't find anything. For example, what exactly do each of the components do, what makes them them compatible, driver modding etc.

I have a computer software background, assemble PCs, know a little about soldering, heatsinks and TIM. Guess I could pick up flashlight modding.

I might even come up with a lo-power RC-G2 mod ;-) .
