is this a nice charger?

I want to charge 4c, 3D and 5 1/2D cell nimh packs with it. Do you think this would work?

I checked into affordable normal battery chargers, but they have way too small charge currents (and would take over 30 hours to charge a 9000mah D-cell)

I'd *guess* this (second) one better, the first seems optimized for lead/acid batteries, nickel based only an afterthought. While not stated, I suspect the price is somewhat higher?

I would agree with Doug. I almost bought the ansmann myself.

Tha annsman costs a little less. (50 vs 67 euroos)

The ansmann in my post is a mobile one (works on 12V), but is also available in a 230V version.

Why _almost_?

I ended up getting the Vanson 1HU instead. It was cheaper and did what I needed without having to use external packs.
