ITP A3 Not Functioning

Hello guys!

Just like the title says, my dad's ITP A3 EOS isn't working properly. I thought it may be the top contact and tried rubbing it to get a sense of dirt, but there was very little to none. He found that if he hits it somewhat hard it will work for a brief moment but then turn right off.

I suppose that's good news because that means the LED itself isn't broken. This leaves me to think it must be the bottom spring contact? If so how do I go about fixing that problem or in general fixing the light?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Bottom spring just pulls out of the tube ... Stretch it and put it back in then try the torch again ... It might be a badly soldered joint in the head of the torch which might mean sending it back under warranty.

I have a dozen of these lights and so far four have failed by being on key rings and getting banged around, I have taken two of the four apart to find the inductor inside broke free from the solder joint. Once you take it apart it's pretty much destroyed, cheap light and no potting material on the inside around the electronic components to prevent it from happening. I suspect this is causing your intermittent operation, since you describe having to hit the light.

I used an x-acto knife around the inside edge to release the white epoxy they use to hold the PCB in place, then pried up with a small bent pick.

I just tried fine tipped long tweezers to unscrew it - didn't work .

Don't matter now ...... don't wanna bother with returns anymore .

They are now in the junk-parts bin .

To the OP try to see if it will come on when the have the tail cap off by just bridging the negative battery terminal with the side of the body of the light. If that doesn't work then no need fooling around with stretching the spring as it's something on the driver board.

I say you wedge a direct drive xm-l in it on 14400. That would be cool.
