New to this forum and looking for a little information. I am looking for a single AA light for EDC. I don't want to spend a bunch on it because of where it will go. Offshore and with me on my bike. I can live with a $50 loss but more would kill me by way of my wife. I like the ITP SA1 and want to know if this is a good light for the price at $40? Thanks for any help.

I have SA2, witch is the same except for the battery tube and there's few things I don't like about it all that much.
The side switch is a bit finicky, the pwm frequency is really low on all levels except max, but that's just me, some people might not be so sensitive to pwm.
The shallow reflector is smooth, hotspot is quite large and there's a dimmer spot in middle (why didn't they make this with op reflector?).
The few things I like quite much is the forward clicky and the separate switch for changing modes (when it works properly).
And it can take 14500 lithiums.

Still I'd say it's good value for the price.

My brother has both the SA1 and SA2. He's had both for over 6 months and no complaints.
I have a Jetbeam Jet-1 Pro V.3 and have been happy with it and use it as my EDC. It can be had for $56 with CPF discount from B.O.G.
The Quark line also has a strong following here.

Try to do lots of research and check prices at dealers who offer CPF discounts and have a strong following.

I also like the SA1 configuration but imo it needs a neutral beam for outdoor use. YMMV, but you might consider a Quark Mini AA neutral (or warm) for $37 less cpf discount. It makes a VERY nice single AA outdoor pocket light.

I got the SA1 as my first light when I was looking for a light with a strobe that is easily reachable. Its sort of an EDC light for me, I keep it in my shirt pocket when wearing business shirts but right now it resides in a small pouch in my EDC messenger bag. No complaints about the light itself, although now I do prefer the Surefire 6P line for EDC on the belt.

Cheers
Thorsten
