I would like to mount a decent sized rechargeable flashlight in my jeep. I was thinking of a modified mag charge but I didnt know if there were better options. Ideally it would be able to withstand either a constant trickle charge or be able to be charged only as I drive. I would like decent throw but something with enough spill that I can flood the undercarriage without having to balance/place it somewhere.

Under $200 is the goal. $150 and cheaper would be ideal. I'm not concerned about size. In fact I kind of like the bulkiness of a 3D cell Mag.

That's got ~ 6º beam angle, not the best for working under a jeep....too much glare where its aimed. Its a really nice light and all, just not good for working under a rig. I off road, and, end up under people's rigs all the time, and a floody light works best for tasks/repairs, etc.

Spill sucks for use as a work light, you want the lux you get from a focused beam, but, you want it spread out enough so that the lux doesn't glare. So the hot spot and corona are where you want the "sweet spot"...and the reflected light, etc, can also help depending on what you're trying to do.

That's one way of doing it when the light has the option and the added $ for accessories is within budget.

I guess that if we knew what "decent throw" meant, say in terms of what needed to be resolved at what distance, say an example, we could determine if we need to add accessories to make a light work, or, if something that does the primary job best might be available, etc.

If the throw is a limiting factor, so to get the needed range a more dedicated beam would be appropriate, then the diffuser option is a great solution to the under rig repair scenarios.

I second this for a "rechargeable" after researching just about every rechargeable out there in this size and form factor. The SX25L2 is a nice in-between size of the G and M model series. DanNETBTD, be sure you go through a very informed dealer for Eagletac to ensure you get what is pictured on their website. It can be confusing if you oder the Turbo model. The light comes in the BASE model, Turbo model, and there is a KIT version too for both models learning this hard way with too many emails back and forth with my dealer and Eagletac. The turbo model has a larger head for more throw, and you can buy the light with the Turbo head to start or add it as an option later. After going through this now sending my first light order back, I will likely now order the base model that comes with the standard head, and add the optional Turbo head as a separate item purchase along with the "complete KIT" to ensure I get all the pieces, bezels, for both sized heads, plus the holster and diffusers; FYI.

I will know pretty soon as i sent my base model Turbo light back to my dealer and re-ordered the "KIT" version of the Turbo light with accessories. It was not clear to me either about the diffusers.

TEEJ, Okay, 2nd try. Another shipment just arrived at my dealer from Eagletac. I returned the base model and re-ordered the "Turbo + KIT model". I wil confirm this in a week or so when I receive the light. Also, It looks like Eagletac has the product information updated sent to the dealer(s) on this last shipment that came in through Customs. I will report back here on what actually is included when it arrives. Notes the accessories below as listed on the order page for the Turbo light, optional accessories aka "Kit model". The main issue I was having was wanting the crenelated bezel on the front of the Turbo head vs. the plain black Turbo head with no bezel, so I purchased the "Kit model" version of the Turbo light on my 2nd try. Apparently there are two different type kits, one kit for base model and one for Turbo model. Will know soon enough.
