"NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jerry Reed, a singer who became a good ol' boy actor in car chase movies like "Smokey and the Bandit," has died of complications from emphysema at 71.

His longtime booking agent, Carrie Moore-Reed, no relation to the star, said Reed died early Monday."

I've just recently become a fan of Jerry. I started trying to learn Chet Atkins songs on the guitar and also got turned on to Jerry Reed. They were both such damn good guitar players. I was just watching this DVD a couple nights ago.

Just this weekend I was watching a youtube clip of his old TV show with an appearance by Jerry Clower. His guitar style was pretty unmistakable and definitely unique. Sad news indeed, I did some research and was glad to see he was still living when I saw the clip this weekend, and now I see this post. /-:
