Jetbeam M1X version 4

I've had a M1X version 4 for a couple weeks now and my cell extender finally arrived this weekend. Now is where I've ran into a problem, well more of a question. Is the version 4 not compatible with AW flat top cells?

My M1X will not work with flat top cells. You can use a small magnet on the top of the first cell to make the connection to the positive pole, but some discourage this practise.

I've thought about the magnet deal as well. My light's positive contact has a slightly recessed button surrounded by a outer ring. A small drop of solder connecting the inner button and the outer ring would make it work perfectly with flat tops but I'm unsure about doing this. Any thought from the experts?
