I am gonna build a small joule thief to pull the life out of some AA, AAA, C and D alkys. I want to make the power wires to the thief have magnets on the ends so I can just stick them to whatever size cell I have. Question is, where can I find a magnet with a wire lead? I know that if I try to solder a lead onto a magnet, it will lose its magnetism. Any other suggestions? Maybe some Arctic Silver or something and epoxy the lead to the magnet?

Thanks guys.

Thats what I was wondering. Thank you datiLED. And, from what I have read, yes the heat from a soldering iron will make a rare earth magnet lose its magnetism.

I will try the epoxy.
