Some of you recommended the Garrity 8 LED headlamp for something cheap. It's perfect for me. It's not ridiculously bright, but it has good throw and decent flood which is nice for low speed biking and hiking. I got it at walmart online.
The only thing I dont like so far is that the buttons are really small. They definitely won't get bumped accidentally though.
The 1W Luxeon is a very clean looking white light, not blue at all. It illuminates very well.
The 3 white LEDs are kinda weak and too blue looking, but I could see them being suitable for hiking or working around close up stuff.
The red LEDs are good for signaling, thats about it. I'd keep them on flashing when I'm riding my bike, since they flash in the back too.
Overall construction isn't bad at all for a cheap headlamp. The straps are simple but look like decent quality.
The battery case holds 3AA's, and feels sturdy. The latch may be a little iffy...but it's been holding so far.
The actual unit is a bluish plastic covered in rubber and feels really sturdy. It has nice firm clicks for the angle adjustment too.
Here's a few pics and beamshots for anyone interested. I tried :mecry:

Any tips for taking beamshots? I'm just covering the flash with a piece of cardboard...
