The light from my 9P/P91 running off two 18500's with a beamshaper is just so.....gorgeous. Really. Will they ever duplicate that with an led? I don't think so.

here You are:

and You could put the insert into the 9P ...
;)

... to be honest ...
I am now playing around with this beam color, compare it with my other warm leds and with the neutral (5000K) one and all the others I have ...
and simply dont understand the cheers. The 5000K is technically and visibly brighter and also shows the colors ... (even when not completely the same like sunlight)
it is totally individual, seems I like "real" led light more ...

I carry my A2 almost exclusively now and my M6 gets nightly duty walking the dog. Dozens and dozens of LED lights (including plenty of Nichia 119/219) sit on the shelves and watch these 2 Incan workhorses do their work.

No, I don't think there is an LED out there yet that replaces a hard-driven hotwire, at least for me.

I've been thinking about getting an A2 but I wonder how long the replacement bulbs will be available, and FiveMega isn't making the strion sockets anymore. So I'm not sure.

One my favorite lights is the SF e2e. I really like the pure incan color and throw from this pocket sized light. However, the armytek predator high cri(90) matches it to the point that other then the difference in beam and hotspot, distinguishing between the two is almost impossible. I think led's have caught up.

I too have been a huge fan of incandescent lights. The other night I went for a walk with 6 lights; 3 Incan and 3 LED. E2e with strion bulb, 6P with strion bulb and fivemega mop reflector, 9P with TL3 bulb and fivemega vlop reflector. Also had Malkoff M61 HCRI, HDS U60GT, and Surefire U2.

As far as comparing them the M61 is close enough to Incan for me with much more flood and more throw than the E2e, doesn't quite throw as well as my 6P but has alot more flood... I had always thought the TL3 bulb in the vlop reflector was a good thrower but the U2 is basically the same with a bit more flood and a nicer beam of course it is not a good color but that could be changed.

All in all I will probably never get rid of my incandescent lights but think LEDs have certainly replaced them for me... Except for maybe the ROP!

Eta: I would have swore this was in the general section when I hit the reply button.

Lumens Factory sell (arguably) a better lamp assembly, for considerably less than the Surefire replacement. I've now got 4 in stock, just in case. There are probably enough of us with A2s to make it worthwhile stocking and manufacturing lamps for a good while longer.
