Hi,

I've been following this forum a while now, though recently I've had less time to keep tabs - I've been looking at the KD C8 XML that gets great reviews on here but the original link I'd bookmarked no longer works, as KD seem to have updated their website.

I see they now have this torch listed at $16.99; is this the same torch or is there something I should be wary of at this price, as it seems so much lower than any of the other listings?

Thanks,

Chris

I mentioned this in another thread. I have one of these C8's already and I paid about $10 more for it. So when I saw this I ordered another one. I'll tell you when it arrives if it's the same light, but it sure looks the same.

I'm confused, I was watching all the talk on the KD C8 XM-L and I went there and ordered it sku#S009844 mine cost $25.86 and on the page I printed out it says KD C8 CREE XM-L T-6 1000 Lumen
I ordered it on 10/16 and got it on 11/1 , What do your lights have on it, mine says Ultra Fire C8 on one side and CREE XM-L T6 on the other. Did they send me the wrong light?

One other thing is that all the ones I see say nothing on them, are they removing the names?

Don't know, Rikr. It's still showing $16.99 on the KD website. Mine does not have anything printed on the barrel. Also, I don't see a sku. Are you looking on the KD site?

Ya, but you have to add it to your cart to get the sku....I went there again and looked there is more than one KD C8

I read elsewhere that the lower price was a limited time offer. I have one of the KD C8s and it's a perfect light for the bars, so I ordered another one! There's a big ad at the top of KD so you won't need a link.

Well I'll try again and just ordered the $16.99 one. Thanks everyone for your input..

can it handle 2xcr123?

It says 2.7-4.2 V, so I expect not. There may be other C8s that have different emitters that accept different voltage ranges. These lights aren't guaranteed to be identical to the low voltage one as they probably have different drivers in them.

Received the new KD C8 today. Externally it is the same as the older one I have - same finish, knurling, crown, tailcap, lanyard, etc., but there are differences internally: The reflector is a slightly coarser orange peel and more importantly, the LED is a warmer bin, making it more yellowish than the earlier one. In addition, the new one seems to have a tighter beam pattern, whereas the older one has a bit more spill. This in spite of the reflector having the same dimensions.

Last but not least, the pill in the new one is brass whereas the one in the older version is aluminum, and it appears to sit a tad deeper in the barrel than the older one. Maybe that's why the beam spread is a little different.

For the money it's still a keeper, but it IS odd that they've made some subtle changes. Perhaps it's a supplier thing (?)

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and the lens dropped out of the new one when I screwed the head off, whereas the older one is held in by an o-ring. Maybe they just forgot the o-ring? ;)
