My current EDC is my Q111. I also have a U2 on order.
A couple days ago I bought a E2e on impulse and am now thinking I made a mistake. I bought the E2e from a local store that I could return it to and get a different flashlight.
I am either going to keep the E2e or take it back and buy an A2.
I guess what I'm trying to say is if you already have a Q111 for edc and a U2 for other purposes, would you buy a E2e which is in my mind an edc or a A2 with it's regulated bulb? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

PS. don't forget to look at my sig line and take into consideration my other flashlights.

I also carry a Q-III and have a E2e. The E2e sits next to my bed, seldom used, ready for action. Sometimes it tags along if I think I'll need a little extra oomph! The Q-III takes care of most issues.

The A2 is a little too expensive for me to justify buying. I've got a SL TT-2L that offers incan and LED, barely use it. I'd rather have a Q-III with dual brightness.

Umm....I'd keep the E2e.

What's this abouit a Green-bodied Q-III?

The place I ordered my Q111 from had a few green ones so I bought one of those. I heard they are kinda rare and they must be because I haven't heard of anybody else with one around here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you are looking at just the merits of the light, the A2 is the best. The E2 has got price going for it.

I've been looking hard at some of the newer lights out there, but I can't find anything that comes close to the perfection of the A2. I have two of them - one with red leds and one with white.

They are an awesome light especially when you consider that the E2 brightness degrades with the batteries. I am sure that the A2 puts out more light for longer than does the E2 - especially when you consider the consistency of it.

On top of that, I think your batteries will go farther in the A2 because you will find that you use the full incan beam a lot less because you can use the LEDs for reading, for most tasks that don't require the beam throw.

As well, should the incan bulb burn out on you then there are still the LEDs for backup. With the E2E, you are stuck with a dark light.

Nope, i have to think the A2 is just about the perfect light but it is spendy in comparison to the E2. I'd return the E2 and get the A2.

buy the A2

I agree with JohnJ80.
Get the A2. A lot more versatile than the E2e.

Get rid of the E2e, you will go broke owning one of those sick little creatures... one of them just made me buy a PR-T head for it - Luxeon 3 driven at 917mA on a buck converter.

It is the gateway to the Surefire Modular System - not very spectacular based on what it is, but AWESOME based on what it can become.

The components are directly interchangeable with the Aleph System, and the McLux heads. Two-stage tailcaps, 4 choices of resistor, any possible combination of three reflectors, half a dozen converter boards, and all the LEDs you could possibly want. There are literally dozens (hundreds?) of combinations when you factor in custom drive levels.

Then there is the E2C adapter which enables the E2e to take most of the compatible Surefire C-series addons. Crazy combinations include a Turbohead on an E2e.. possible? Sure it is with a $15 adapter. Add the CR123 cell extender and you can even slap the awesome 200-lumen P91 onto the E2e.

The A2 has no upgrade path... sorry to say /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif (but it won't drive you to the poorhouse, too)

Get rid of it before it makes you spend all your money!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/aaa.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/str.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/broke.gif

Re: get rid of the E2e....you will go broke :P

I went and looked at the A2, we couldn't figure out how to keep the main beam on continually. If you twist the end cap the led's came on but not the main bulb. The only one they had left had green led's. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Re: get rid of the E2e....you will go broke :P

Twist the end cap a little further and the incandescent will stay on. (Unless thats a defective light!)

Bill,

Are all the led's and the main bulb on at the same time then?

Thanks

Yes

Re: get rid of the E2e....you will go broke :P

i own an e2e and a kl4. i'd like to add an a2 to my collection.
i like the e2e because its a classic and i like the great throw and its size.
if you have to choose between e2e and a2 i'd pick the a2 because of versatility although the a2 is a little longer. unique thing about the a2 is also the regulated bulb.

I chose the A2 over the E2e without hesitation.
I've since moved onto the L2 which I find more useful than the A2 for my uses of light.
