I've seen a lot of threads for small EDC lights.

However, what I am looking for is:

1) that can be put on your key ring using an actual jey ring (no lanyard or lobster clip).
2) ideally a WARM LED.
3) High/Lo would be great.
4) AA battery due to easy accessability.
5) LIGHT WEIGHT - IMPORTANT! Since its going to be on the keychain itself, I am looking for a light weight light, so that it hopefully doesnt end up ruining the ignition (& weight down my pocket).

Thanks for all the input.

You might want to consider opening up the options and include the smaller AAA battery. Gain in size and weight is substantial and since this is IMPORTANT for you you might want to consider a battery downgrade. See my solution - very KISS (keep it simple & stupid) - but does not fulfill your requirements:
Faithful-compangnon-of-6-years....

I agree that the AA might be a little chunky for keychain duty. That being said, if your set on AA then the 4sevens mini is about as small as they come and they have a split ring attachment. The Fenix LD15 might also work.

Lights that might work better are the Fenix LD01 or 4sevens Revo. The Fenix comes on med/low/high and can tail stand. The revo comes on low/med/high and works better for split ring IMO

Also keep in mind that alkaline batteries won't drive them anywhere near there potential. NmH or lithium work MUCH better

Fenix LD15, 0.65" diameter and weighs 2/3oz without the battery. Runs on AA.

As others have said, AA might be a bit large for key chain, but i do think the 3 times higher capacity compared to AAA might be worth it.

If AA is a must I would suggest running it with Lithium cells (Energizer) because they weigh noticeably less than alkalines.
How about the ITP A2?

Yeah, I have thought about going with AAA, but its all about availability & how much more capacity they have like s2ftw said. I don't always keep track of how long I have ran my light. So, if it were to die on me, AA would be easier to find somewhere, than say AAA (or CR123).

So far recommended are:

4Sevens min
Fenix LD15
ITP A2

Any other ones? What about a Zebra light? Would those be too heavy for keychain?

Personally I think they may be a little bulky for keychain use, but if you wished to attach one it wouldn't be too much trouble to knock up a small triangular piece of aluminium with holes in, to replace the standard shirt clip.

I will probably do that myself in order to attach a lanyard.

I'd also recommend AAA, it will be much smaller and lighter, and as suggested, lithium primaries will also significantly reduce the weight. I can't think of any AA light that I would allow on my keychain, and being a big person, I'm not as picky about size and weight as most. AAA is almost as available as AA, near enough that it probably won't make a difference.

ITP A3 is a popular keychain light choice. It's got a M/L/H, and is about as small as they come. The Fenix LD01 is comparable, and possibly better quality (I think it definitely looks cooler) but much more expensive. I've found that while it's great to have a light on your keychain so it's always with you, it's not really a light that gets a ton of use, so I don't think it needs a lot of money put into it.

As far as a warm LED in a keychain light, I'm not sure... possibly a Peak Eiger? I think I remember reading you can get them in warm... Their website is no help, I'm told you have to call them to get any info about their lights...

I would recommend Lummi wee or raw .. Since its going to be an edc why not get something you will feel proud to carry.. its small light and best of all powerful.. it looks good and it impresses your friends.. only con for you is the battery part.. but that could be easily solve by getting the usb charger and extra batt.. so you can charge it anywhere which solves most of it..

So far recommended are:

4Sevens min
Fenix LD15
ITP A2

Any other ones?

you can add Nitecore EZ AA to the list. also Tank007 E07. these are both a little longer than the lights listed above.

none of these lights are available in warm (or even neutral) tint IIRC. i think 4sevens made a limited run of neutral and warm Minis, but those aren't available anymore. same with the EZ AA.

the Zebras don't have a key ring.

if you're okay with a 5mm LED, then there's the Peak Kilimanjaro.

but really, i think you're looking for a light that no one makes. if you go down to AAA you can get lights that have neutral emitters and stainless bodies that are still light enough for keychain duty. but finding everything you want in a AA light is going to be tough. you might have to make one yourself.

Edit: forgot to include Peak El Capitan and Peak Logan w/ 1xAA body to the list. neither come in warmer tints, but i think you can place custom orders. possible thread of interest regarding getting a Peak Logan in custom tints here.
