See title. I understand the Arc LS w/ 123 batt. pack is moderately small, but can it get smaller? And with what batteries? Can it be cheaply made(<$40)? Thanks.

I think the size of the luxeon LED itself would be the main issue. I cannot see how a light could be made much smaller then the LS with 123 battery pack but maybe it could be made slightly smaller if in one piece housing rather then a separate head and screw on battery pack. Some of those people who have the "truck driver" big key ring with dozens of keys rattling off of it might not find the LS123 too big for a keychain light.

Agreed. I think with current parts and technology, the LS/123 aproaches the theoretical "smallest usable light" parameters. I suppose you could put a 3V button cell in there for a few moments of light. That'd make it pretty small. But what's the point? I mean except for possibly winning the "Stupid flashlight" contest...

A MADMAX sandwich is inside the blue holder. Heat is not significant even after several minutes.

Awesome!!!

Is that 1/2" pipe? How much did you have to sand the inside? Are you using that o-ring as a woobie? You must tell!

Sure, you could make a little keychain light with the LS. The only problem would be a VERY short burn time, and the thing would heat up fast enough to burn you. I'm thinking of submitting one for the "Stupid Flashlight Tricks" thread over on the Mods forum...

3/4" O.D. X 2 1/2" long. Don't have a meter (darn it), but brightness and distance of throw appears to be at least equal to CMG Reactor with 2 N's + 1AAA. Collimator was sanded down to fit I.D., which JUST accepts a 123 3V battery.

O-Ring is only used to make it easier to hold and activate. Contact is momentary only, as there is presently no heat sinking.
