Simple post. I'm stuck between these two flashlights. Which would you buy and why? If the answer is neither, feel free to sell me on it. I would greatly appreciate differing opinions.

Klarus XT11 for the UI. The Fenix side switch isn't practical if you need to change output frequently.

There's a TK22 now, just check it out.

I would go with the tk22 for fenix's build quality although I do like Klarus's User interface

You might want to note that XT11 is a PWM light, not current controlled. Not sure about the fenix though.

I'd go for the xt11. 850lm on two rcr123s, 600 on one 18650. Ui is definitely the best I've tried plus the build quality is at par with fenix lights, imo.

How long does it stay on 850lm until it steps down?

I like the XT11 better simply because of the UI. My Fenix with the tail switch & side switch gets on my nerves. It is difficult sometimes to find the side switch. The Klarus has both switches right next to each other. Build quality appears to be similar between the two lights.

Klarus XT11 steps down to ~370 lumens after 3 minutes when using 18650. weak, very weak considering the 18650 is the best energy source for these types of lights. RCR123 is a very very low capacity cell, lower capacity than a 14500

fenix TK21 may have premature stepdown issues too, pls research about it. also you can't pre-select the output before turning on the TK21 so it could be very very frustrating to use. also 468 lumens isn't a lot these days

both lights are sub-par. look for something better.

I seem to be the only one around here who isn't fond of the XT11 UI - I find the small mode button at the rear difficult to find and use in the dark. I don't use the clip, so maybe others use that as a guide to line up the button (or maybe I'm just particularly clumsy).

Although many use 2xRCR123 cells, Klarus don't recommend it. In my book, if it ain't recommended by the manufacturer, it ain't going to happen.

Well, the XT11 UI might not be the perfect one either but the small tail button of the XT11 must be way easier to find the than side button of TK21/22.
