Knife - Long Term Storage?

What is the best method to pack away a knife for long term storage [over a year]. I've heard leather is not a good option. I have a knive case with a foam liner, just like you would see in a gun case. Is that a good packing medium?

Should I just leave wrapped in the tissue paper that came in the factory box?

Take the knife out of the leather sheath, coat the blade with a thin layer of oil and place both items in the knive case - that's it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
