L4, e2e, e1e clip question ???

i was just wondering if anyone knows how to get the clip of a Surefire L4 body ?
Mine doesnt clip too securely and i want to take it off and bend it a bit so it grips better

once the oring's been removed, push the clip against something hard. The clip and the widget will then come out.

or you can remove the oring and hook it on some paracord and remove it that way. for the record - the old clip design was better.

thanks - got it off and fixed it up - i just wasnt pushing hard enough

the old clip design i assume you are talking about is the single hex screw on the e1,e2 ???

Perhaps he is,
From my experience, the E1/E2 clip on the bezel was very insecure. I lost my first E2 that way.
There is a "long PocketClip" that can replace the short one on the L4. It's the PocketClip supplied on the M2/C2 and E2o and I believe the A2. I don't think the long clip is as good for clipping inside a pants pocket. It's better for thicker materials such as packs and jackets etc.

i thought the pocket clip on my l4 looked a bit short
anyway - ill probably end up taking it off and making a stud for my rivet phone clip and use that instead

The metal clips on the lights mentioned are IMHO the weakest link in an otherwise beautiful design. The clips are functional but will quickly loose tension or worse still deform if used with a lanyard.

I suspect many will disagree, but for me, I cannot but help that think that the clips are an achilles heel?

For what it is worth I think the short clip was the more robust and functional of the two choices.

The old style clip on the e2 did loose tention after a while. Mine actually went loose around the hex screw where it was fastened and even wore out the threading so that the screw couldn't be tightened... strange

The long clip is much better than the short IMO. You can adjust the tension and should check it regularly. I've never had a problem loosing any of my lights, knock on wood.

Is there a lanyard ring available for L4?

The clip on my L4 is way loose. I mean, it won't grip anything thinner than a thick denim jeans material. I'll fix it, but I know this won't be a permanent fix.

BTW, where can I get long clip that tkl and al talk about?

Call SureFire and ask them for it (give the reason you mention) and I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.

Just stick a screwdriver under the end towards the bezel end, hold down the open end while twisting the screwdriver a little at a time until the tension you want is achieved. It's a lot easier than removing the clip each time.
