I ordered my megalite last week, well I didn't think I would get it till Monday or so.What a surprise when I hear a knock at the door Sunday right before I go to work.Well I got to use it that night and wow this this is the brightest had held flash light I have ever used.the throw is more than any incan. I have ever used compared to "mag charger, stream light sl-20,6 cell mag with an overdriven halogen. It has a very nice white thick beam to it.The only Led light I owned before this one was my kL4 and everyone I worked with wanted one that is till I told them how much I paid for it.The megalite also cut throught smoke better the a lot of the lights I have used.Mondy night we responded to a house fire and it seem to cut throught the smoke like a knife. Some of the guys at work wanted me to ask if there are any moders that would like to mod a stream light sl-20 with a 5 watt Luxeon. But I think the best part about the megalite is the responses I get when I turn it on at a seen people just can't belive how bright it is.thanks Lambda for an awesome light that I can use in eveyday life work or play.

Is the megalite a 5watter in a mag? Does it use the stock reflector?

Hi Medic15,

Glad the light was of some use to you. My nephew is a fireman here locally, and he also likes the smoke penetration compared to incandescents.

Stay safe, and Merry Christmas!!

I have already mailed this review to Kevin, I copy the relevant parts here.

[First impression]
Put in fresh 2100 NiMH Sanyo's. Ding. Ohhh. Direct drive rulez. Kids also liked it, switched off all room lights immediately, looking at the spots, then had to go in the dark bathroom also, yes, it was very bright. Near
white spot, sidespill blueish. Lambda said that this U4T bin was not really U, as it outperformed some of his V binned luxeons.

[In action]
One evening I have a bike trip with friends. Of course I had the Megalite with me in secret. When we passed the last house and the road went in the forest where no lights was on the roadside, I switched on the Megalite from behind. One guy said: what's that, UFO?
After some time they swithed off their lamps saying why they use it if has no effect? So the flashlight was big success.
Temperature was about -4 Celsius (25 F) so I could not test heating issues /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
I can only compare the light to some consumer bike lights. Beam strength was not comparable of course.
- 5 LED Cateye. Cateye is really blue. Megalite is pure white compared to it.
- Cateye HL-1600 6V 2,4W Halogen. This one has a more spottish light, this was my current bike lamp till now, and I was very satisfied with it. Beam force is equal to the 5 led cateye, but halogen's yellow beam is an advantage compared to it.
Also it had no visible effect when Megalite was on /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

[Conclusions]
I am very satisfied, thanks for Kevins artwork. On the other hand, brighter spot would be better for my purposes, maintaining the nice flood of course.
On the dark parts of the road (bad quality asphalt, but not terrain) previously I used to ride 50-60 km/h (31-37 mph) down the hill, and I thought that I was in safety. Now using this new light I do not understand why I was so brave with that 2,4W halogen /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
