Up until now, I've attached lanyards to my larger flashlights (eg : fenix PD35) that have decent attachment points for a split ring. This has worked very well. Now I want to attach lanyards to my smaller lights. The trouble is that with some of them (think Olight M1T Raider, Olight S1A Baton etc) the only way is to thread a thin loop of cord through an equally small hole. A Split ring won't fit. Obviously the edge of the hole is sharp or rough and the thin cord wears through in no time at all. So that's not much use.

Does anyone have a better idea for an attachment that won't wear through?

Chamfer the edge with something. Even the fine tip of a knife might be good for aluminium. Also there are pretty small split rings.

Thanks for your ideas. I've tried some but the thin cord on most lanyards has zero abrasion resistance.

thermal guy - brilliant idea. I didn't know this existed and I have already ordered some.
