Laser Diode Assembly

I took apart an older HP Laserjet 4
to get the the Laser.

I would like to know what kind of laser that is...
It should be near IR that I know...
how powerful they are?
(could it cut burn?)

Update:

Way too bright & dangerous in the IR range....
had to replace Laser diode with one from a DVD burner.
more safe now.
