i got a >50mw green laser pointer from a local shop, which houses 2 x aaa batteries type.

well after having it for a few days, something werid started to appear.

jus upon pressing the button to fire up, within 2 or 3 secs, the beam will drop its value .

i am new to laser so wouldnt have any knowlegde on how to troubleshoot these.

any help is welcome ....

cheers

oh i did try to insert newer batteries, but output is still the same. the initial output wouldnt last more than a second or two. tried cooling, dun work too ....

It might be too cold. I played with one that had to be pretty warm for good brightness. After I had it in my pocket for a while, the brightness came up considerably. It wouldn't work outside at all (in the winter, at least.)

i'm in singapore where the temperature is abt 28 to 32 degree celius.

when i first bought it, i didnt really check, so that night, while blazing the skies, then i found the funny thing.

the lower beam seems to be slightly distord compare with the initial startup beam, with some shadows ......

hmmmm

If your batteries are fully charged and your laser warm and you still have that power problem, then your laser is faulty.

The shop you bought it from probably imports cheat Chinese lasers with no quality control.

ya i think its those laser from similar dealextreme ...

oh well

shall use it till one day then dismantle it and mod it !
