Latest "Green" 26650 from Batteryspace

Does anyone have any experience with these? I had purchased some of their orange 4000 mAH 10 amp max discharge cells and I have been pretty happy with them. I went to order a few more for my FM Cooly, but they now have some green jacket cells rated at 4000 mAH, but a stated 4 amp max discharge. I hope that somebody here has some info on these cells... or maybe a suggestion on some good 26650 cells and where I can get them. I just found out that Nailbender has some MNKE 4000 mAH 10 amp orange cells, so that could be a good option for me.

Anyone?? I got 4 of the green cells. They don't start off as high a voltage. 4.13 to 4.14 half an hour out of the charger versus 4.18 to 4.19 for the orange cells. I tried a capacity test with my Turnigy Accucel6 on the green cells. Unfortunately the unit stops the drain at 3.5 volts and I haven't figured out how to adjust that level. At 3.5 volts the cpapcity is showing only about 2 amp hours, There is probably a bit more in there if I could bring them down to 2.8 V. But this is not very encouraging.

I hope by this time that someone else has got some of these and might add some information on what they have seen.

Well I figured out what I was doing wrong with the Accucell6. There is a time limit setting that was turned on and set for two hours. Apparently at the two hour mark each cell that I tested was at 3.5 volts and right at 1999 mAH. I ran a discharge on one of the green cells last night. At a one amp draw it gave 4010 mAH. Not bad, but I wish I could test at 3 amps so the draw would match up better with the XML dropins that I use. One of the big differences in the specs between these new cells and the orange (possibly IMR) cells was that these green cells are rated at 4 amp max while the orange cells were rated at 10 amps. I ran a discharge at one amp on one of the orange cells and got "only" 3695 mAH. This was after a top off charge, waiting an hour, and running the discharge test.

These were both listed as LiMnNi cells, but the new one's lower max discharge rate makes me wonder.


I know it looks like I am talking to myself here (because so far I AM) but I am hoping some of the true battery experts around here might join in at some point. I would consider sending a couple of these new cells to somebody for a complete test if anyone is interested. As this is the current 26650 offering at Batteryspace it seems like it would be good info for the community to have.
