I know this might not be a question about flashlight batteries, but I do use these batteries to charge up flashlight batteries and to provide light at fishing trips etc.

I bought a Willard Leisure battery. It was not used hard or very much. It was charged every two monts and only did light duty. This past weekend it did not have enough power to even work with my 12V to 230V inverter. When charging it, it does not keep the charge even for a day. It did not even lasted two years.... The hardest task it had was to power up my TV and DSTV decoder at home for the small amounts of time that our power went out last year. While all my neighbours still looked for candles I'm allready watching TV again:) What did I do wrong with it? Is two years normal?

Why I think is not is because I also have a Car Jumpstart Battery pack. It was really used a lot. Powering up inverters to use with energy saving bulbs, jumpstarting cars, you name it. It really worked very hard. Now it only has a 17Amp battery. This pack is about 6 years old and really, its still working as if I've bought it yesterday.

I'm really dissappointed by the Willard battery. I paid over R800.00 for it and feel if I must do that every two years then something is wrong. What can I do to extend its life, if I decide to buy a new one, or is there a way to revive the one I allready have?
