i tried doing the potmod (without any leadlight experience) ... the button came off easy, but the hole was very small to acess the pot. i tried wedging a little screwdriver in there to get at it, but no luck.. i reached it but the screwdriver didnt fit into it correctly and it seems stuck.. i pulled out the module and still counldnt turn it.. very hard... then simply pushing it back into the casing, the circuitboard simply broke off the diode (no repair possible).. that wasnt good.. im just going to get another from atlasnova (although i had shipping problems trying to buy one a few days ago, thoguh that wasnt their fault so ill try it again)... any tips on how i mght be able to pot mod the next one? is there a certain jewelers screwdriver that works better? i have many small small screwdrivers and none worked..

A small, flat-head screwdriver works best for me. Look closely, perhaps it has fixing glue on it.

Using a multimeter, measure the current draw from the battery top to the casing while the laser is on. If it's 300mA or more, you're not going to get much more power out of this laser without substantial modifications.

Are you SURE there is no repair possible ? :naughty:

Try soldering some wires to the busted leads from the diode, then to the coreesponding location on the MCA. Can't hurt to try !

i tired...it broke off deep inside the diode.. i tried many times... i shoulda kept it and given it to soemone here for parts but i was pissed and smashed it with a hammer... ahaha.. if i break the next one ill send it to someone who wants it.

I've used big hammers to fix lots of things at the blacksmith shop --

BUT lasers ain't real forgiving of that treatment :)
