Leak test question

I'm working on Maglight mod, now housing is almost done, I want to test leak, I live in Canada, so hard to find deep water to test it now, my buddy happened to have a vacuum pump for car repair, I borrow it and hook up, 1st housing has leak at the joint I glue the head and body together with JB welder, I put it in water to find out where's the leak. After putting more JB welder inside out, the leak stopped, I set the gauge at 25 for whole night, and it didn't drop :)

I'm not familiar with the pressure and vacuum thing, just want to know how deep this test compare to real underwater? Say 20ft or maybe 50ft deep?



The gauge is reading 25 in Hg vac, or 630 mm Hg vac.

With vacuum the theoretical max is (minus) one atmospheric pressure, which equals to 10 meters (30 feet) depth in water. Since you seem to have a pressure of 630 mmHg, it means 110 (760-630) mmHg below normal pressure. 110 mmHg equals about 0.14 bar which is 4.8 meters of water. (110/760*10=4.8)

A update about my dive lights, too bad most of the replies are lost, thank you everyone for the help, my 2 lights worked very well in 1 week diving in Cozumel back to February, I made them for video light, so no reflector or optics, still not wide enough. I made 15 dives and maxim depth was 100ft, no leak.

No leaks = good job.

As to wide enough, a second light head is always an option or gets make a diffuser. From the video it looked like you did have an intense hotspot
