Least expensive source for Lithium D cells?

I noticed someone said in passing they were able to find them for about $10 each. Am wondering where and what other people have found.

So far the best price I've seen is $17 ea. from REI.

Coldspotfeeds used to have them for $13. but you may just ask HDSsystems for an offer if you need more.

Are there different Lithium chemistries? My Lithium cells all have only "Lithium" written on the packets. Is there much difference in performance between the different chemistries?

Yes, there are quite a few (about 30 IIRC).
123 cells are usually ManganeseDioxide LiMnO2,
Button cells come in CarbonMonofluoride (CF)n and ChromiumOxide CrOx
The D cells we look for here, are basically made in two chemistries:
LiThionylcloride LiSOCl2 and LiSulphurdioxide LiSO2.
The first ones has 3.6V open circuit voltage, the second one 3.0V. That's the main difference for the user. The LiThionylcloride cells have up to 18Ah capacity and come in two physically different versions: bobbin and spirally wound. Bobbin has higher capacity, but only works for very small currents (a few mA for a D cell), perfect for memory backup.
Li Sulphurdioxide has a nominal capacity of 7.5Ah but does not loose too much of it at higher loads (several A).

Did I forget anything (or said wrong)?

To my knowledge (which is pretty small .-) Tekcells in size D are only available as LiThionylcloride (3.6V). Although both spirally wound and bobbin.
