LED 101

Hi All,
First post so be gentle, been looking around to see if there is a idiots guide to leds and their associated parts. But can't find it or video tutorials on soldering them and such like. I just know the first post is going to be a link to all this but i just can't find it. Also is there a section where people post their build pics of a mod with full description of components and assembly where there is no other posts in the thread allowed so you are not trawling through a 100 posts just to get the full picture.

Due to the uniqueness of each mod, each individual mod will have have it's own thread.
