Help Support Candle Power:

Well, a low efficiency version of my uFlex driver . I used Atmel's AVR which has some nicer features like a 20x gain stage to amplify the voltage across the sense resistor. I sense the Luxeon current across a 0.1 or 0.15ohm resistor - they need a 1ohm. Their FET drive is relatively inefficient and the whole circuit is limited to 6V (the PIC max voltage presumably). I get around 93% efficiency at 6V driving 350mA into a Lux 1W - they get about 82% at 285mA drive. uFlex can run up to 20V.

Anyhow since they provide schematics, code etc - it would make a fun project or base for someone wanting to learn how to use a PIC etc.
