LED flashlights with true type 3 anodizing?

Does anybody know if flashlights made by popular brands like 4 sevens, thrunite, zebralight, etc really anodize their flashlights to type 3 thickness? The reason I ask is I have a CRKT knife that is type 3 and it stands up to abuse MUCH better than some of the flashlights I have. The surface of the CRKT knife feels a lot less smooth - like it should be with type 3 anodizing. And comparing the xeno and 4-sevens flashlights I have, the xeno EO3 type 2 anodizing seems to stand up to damage a lot better even though it's only type 2.

I have lights which all claim to be type 3 anodised but the finishes look different.

Some have a very matt, flat finish, they almost look like they are made out of dark metal rather than coated.

Others are quite glossy, almost like they have been spray painted with black gloss paint.

The matt ones look a lot nicer, feel less slippery and take knocks better.

I suspect the shiny ones are not actually type 3 but is there an accurate way of telling whether a light is really type 3 or not?
