LED for keychain flashlight

I'm thinking of making myself a tiny flashlight, something you could put on a keychain. As such I'd like to buy components like the bulb, batteries, and...are any electronics more complicated than a switch necessary? Let me know if you think it could be cheaper to buy the components separately or to buy an LED flashlight and take it apart - and either way, any recommendations for where to go would be appreciated.

Not sure on the homemade custom flashlight cost or your skills. However there are some decent options out there. It may give you ideas.

I have an iTP A2 in Stainless with a 14500 and it throws better than my Quark AA2 X that puts out 280 OTF
