HI
i was wondering if in a few years we will see from the air above our cities
:
LED lighting of all colours and shapes ect
beautiful from the sky as the sun sets and turns our cities crimson cyan blue green white pink purple orange yellow aqua and other odd colours
and not a single incandescent in site

I believe so.

It may be more than a few years, but it is coming. To me, it is the same as vacuum tubes being replaced by transistors. I'm sure there will always be applications for incandescnents, but as LED technology advances there will be fewer and fewer reasons.

For guitar amplifiers, for example, it is still desirable to have tube amps. I don't know if it is the clarity or the grunt, but people who know swear by them.

The thing I can't wait for is for car headlamps to become LED. If they could develop an affordable, larger-scale Luxeon star... The possbilities are endless.

I have read here posts from people who don't believe that LEDs will take over, but there was also a time when transistors were laughed at...

Re: I believe so.

When it becomes less expensive to make high effeciency LED lighting the light bulb will go the way of the vacuum tube.

The reason guitar players like tube amps is the harmonics generated are more pleasing to the ear,and add to the perceived loudness per watt of output power.
