I'm a newb trying to learn all about what exactly makes LEDs tick... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif ...with the amperage, resistance, current flow and all that good stuff... Are there any good "LED for Beginners" Kits out there where I can mess around with different resistors and LEDs?? Like a big breadboard or something? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Basically...I think I want/need some hands on experience, because reading the vast amount of knowledge shared here on the forums just isn't painting a clear enough picture!!!

Ultimately I'd like to start modding my existing lights, and building lights using Waynes boards ( /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif ), but right now, I coudln't tell you the difference between a DownBoy700 and a BadBoy500! I really don't even know where to begin, so I'd like to get a LED kit or something. Do they even make such a thing? Or would I be better off going to Radio Shack and picking up a pack of LEDs and resistors?

Thanks for takin' the time to get a newbie like myself up to speed!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

No there really isn't anything like that
available. I would stay away from RS as
far as LEDs go, I don't think they have
anything with an output bright enough for
a flashlight. I think the best thing to
do is to read alot of the threads in the
Mod forum and when you decide what you
want to do, post questions about what you
don't understand. Many of the modders here
have web pages explaining what they have
tried. Use the search function! If you decide
that a 3D Mag is going to be your platform,
search back at least a year to find out what
has been going on. Good Luck!!

Edit... Oh yea, check out Craig's LED Museum, it will
give you a lot of background about LEDs.
