Ok Guys, Let me start off with a little about myself.
I am a college graduate with a Bachelors of Engineering in Engineering Management and Masters of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering. I have a basic understanding of circuits from college. (I understand the V=IR concept) and I have build minor circuits using breadboards as well as PIC boards.
My project:
Right now I own a 2013 Ford Mustang. The car has the factory installed MyColor option, which essentially let's you change certain parts of the car's interior lighting to "personalize" the car. The MyColor option changes the colors of various things, such as the gauges as well as the ambient light in the car and the door sills as well.

The color system uses a 1-5 across the RGB components and what I would assume, lights the car using RGB components.

However, here is the dilemma. The RGB MyColor only affects certain components of the car.
Gauges, Footwells, Cup Holder, Door Sills.
The issue is, it doesn't affect the radio, the door switches, the AC knobs.

You can see in the image above, while the MyColor option has been set to Rich Blue, the center console and window switches and lock/unlock, remain the stock Ice blue.
My project is to replace the stock switches with LED lighting. I'd specifically, like to use the RGB lighting so that, using an external controller, if I decide, I no longer like blue, I can switch it to another color.
So far I have done an immense amount of research on this.
The intent is to essential perform what the individual in this thread has done.

However, I would like to use RGB so that I could potentially change the color of my lights without needing to remove and resolder ALL of the LEDs in the car all over again.
I was thinking of using this as my controller as my starting point.

Basically, that's it so far. I know it seems like it might be a silly project, but I am fascinated by the concept of being able to control it all.
