I just found the LED light bars. The come in preset lengths between 1.5 and 48 inches.

Check these babies out! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

dude, those would go great along my stairway.. there's a problem with the circuit there and lightbulbs burn out every week..

If you go for it, be sure to make a post about it and take some pictures! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Must....resist....

Would sure beat the GITD paint I've got on the edge of the one shelf in here (nicely at eye height that thing... and this being an L shaped room, easy to walk into in the dark).

Hmmmmmm ...

Desk-edge lighting for my keyboard, some edge lighting for my computer room, some backlighting/wallwash behind the flatscreen TV in the livingroom, some lighting around the deck, some - AAAAARRRrrrrggghhhhhhh!!!

One can go bankrupt with things like this. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

Very nice... I'm sure if we think hard enough we all can come up with some uses for these. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif They remind me of the slim police style LED lightbars that I'm starting to see more and more of. I wonder if they do group buys on these things?

Um. I _know_ I read something about this symptom ten years ago when rewiring my house, associated with lights that get brighter/hotter momentarily and burn out fast.

It's a red flag warning for some wiring failure that can eventually overheat the wiring in the walls -- not hard to fix. Hope you get an electrician to check.

And, oh yeah, the light bars look great. I knew I'd been keeping that 12-volt regulated power supply around for a reason. These finally might be the whole-house submarine-red-lighting I've long wanted for nighttime. AhOOOOOgah! Dive!

Try some Red luxeons too, and a cheap incadecent red colored party bulbs do a really good job of even saturated red lighting.

Since they run off of 12V those could be great for boat cabin lighting. White bars for general illumination and a red bar to protect night vision on evening sails. Cool.

Thanks Darrell. Seems my link died, as it did work a while ago.

Question: I asuume these can be run off of any 12 volt power supply that is direct current? Why is this?

Any 12V supply that has enough current, yes. I'm not sure what you mean by "why is this?" They put enough of the emitters in series/parallel with the correct resistors to make each length work at 12V.

NightShift - do you have those boards made up? I mean just the board with traces. Selling any? Just what I've been looking for (didn't want the hassle of soldering them up on generic board stock!)

Nightshift,

Did you get your LED bar from LED Lighting Systems Inc.? What length is yours? I assume it's the non-water resistant version?
