LED light for video camera

This just occured to me. I would think an LED light for a video camera would be a match made in heaven. It would use less power, cast a more even light, and possibly be less bothersome on the eyes.

A google search found this, but not much else on the subject.

You would think that Sony would be all over this, as they like to pour as much new technology into their video cameras as possible.

Yeah but it'd have to use "incandessent" LEDs, which aern't that bright (Yet...cross your fingers) as most people look sick when lit with blue tinted light.

True there's white balance...but it can only do so much.

I've used 1W LS (Arc LS) for a number of digital photographs where I wanted a very crisp, clear, "technical" look to the image. I've also used Opalecs for nicely balanced side, back, and reflection lighting of small metallic items.

Using these small and easily positioned sources allows very fine control of the object lighting.

The overall effect is quite nice for technical images, but would be rather horrid for portraits ...
